Why It’s Important to Use Masks and Exfoliates on The Skin?

Our skin routine is as personal and unique as our skin itself. Certain products that might improve one person’s skin might have an adverse effect on another, which is why it is always important to find the right products to suit you, personally. Masks and exfoliates should always be a part of a healthy and balanced skincare routine and lifestyle as they each hold many benefits for the look, feel and health of the skin.

Here, I will take a look at some of these benefits as well as the types of masks and exfoliates that I recommend using and that I use for my clients at Rani Mirza Knightsbridge.

The Benefits of Using Masks and Exfoliates

The benefits of different masks and exfoliates differ from product to product and there are certain masks that you can buy that work for very specific skin complaints and issues.

Here, let’s take a look at just some of the benefits of using masks and exfoliates on the skin on a regular basis.

Exfoliates

  • It allows the rest of your skincare to deeply penetrate into your skin and do their job more effectively.
  • It can boost your circulation and aid lymphatic drainage.

Types of Masks and Exfoliates

There are many different types of masks and exfoliates which can do a multitude of things to help and improve your skin. At Rani Mirza, I use Yonka masks and exfoliates, which my clients love because of the gentle effects they have on the skin.

Masks

The three clay masks that Yonka create are used within our facials, chosen depending on the type of skin each client is dealing with. These clay masks help to purify, clarify and decongest the skin whilst tightening the pores and creating a flawless finish to the complexion.

The Masque 103 is used for oily skin to balance the oils on the surface of the skin and create a more matte finish. After use, customers note the brightness they feel with their skin and healthy radiance. The Masque 105 is used for dry skin to deeply moisturise and cleanse the skin of dry and dead cells. This mask is also perfect for soothing sensitive and irritated skin so is often used for customers who need a gentler product during facials.

My favourite Yonka mask for mature skin is Yonka’s Excellence Code Masque, which works against all the signs of ageing skin. Using its special ingredient, Nutgrass, it strengthens the support of the skin, giving it back its youthful plumpness.

If my clients’ skin needs some deep hydration, Yonka’s Hydra No1 Masque is a go-to product. A moisturising and repairing mask, it is deeply enriched with several ultimately hydrating ingredients to soothe and restructure the skin.

If you’re looking to use a face mask at home, there are many choices available at different price points that can help you to work on a plethora of skin issues and complaints and also, to simply soothe, hydrate and moisturise the skin, in general. Try the Elf Hydrating Bubble Mask for cleansing and deep hydration or Kiehl’s Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque to help fight the damage of day-to-day exposure to pollution. Give your skin a radiant boost with the REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask or indulge in a luxury at home treat with Sisley’s Black Rose Cream Mask, giving your skin a refreshed, more youthful look.

Exfoliates

Yonka’s fantastic Guarana Scrub is a favourite exfoliate at Rani Mirza Knightsbridge because of its triple action ingredients. Unclogging, polishing and invigorating the skin, after using this exfoliate during facials, the skin is left brighter, fresher and luxuriously velvety.

Another Yonka exfoliate that my clients love is the Gommage 305. Recommended for dull skin that needs its sparkle back, this plant-based exfoliate clarifies, hydrates and balances the skin, refining its texture.

Using exfoliator at home twice a week will allow your skin to absorb the rest of your skincare better. For sensitive skin that requires a slightly gentler exfoliate, try Caudalíe Deep Cleansing Exfoliator or Chanel’s Gommage Microperlé Éclat for beautiful radiant skin. ESPA’s Refining Skin Polish refines and smooths the skin for a luxe complexion with clean and clear pores while Clarin’s Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner is smooth and soft way to exfoliate the skin, brightening a dull complexion and refreshing the surface of the skin.

Masks and exfoliates are an important part of any facial but it’s also important to include them in your at-home skincare routine. Helping to hydrate, refine and prevent ageing of the skin, invest in high-quality products and find the perfect partner to add to your skincare, using 2-3 times per week for the best results.
